What
Like any other law firm, we provide advice and assistance on as-and-when basis. This could include contract reviews, drafting of a contract, or even initial advice on a potential dispute.
WHO
Any business providing goods and services in a range of industries can use this service which include service providers, manufacturers, tech and software companies.
CHARGES
Where possible, it will be a fixed fee but otherwise hourly rates or a combination of both.
What
“Sam” is short for Samaritan, and we are help answer queries for example, what does a clause mean, somebody isn’t paying an invoice, help with prompts on AI for desktop research or even help find a specialist lawyer.

Whilst technically any business in a range of industries can use this service which includes service providers, manufacturers, tech and software companies.can use this, the Sam Retainer has been developed for micro enterprises – freelancers, consultants, tradespeople, small companies because they often find themselves with a question and just need a little help in finding the answer.
CHARGES
The retainer is based on purchasing one or two hours per month based on the current hourly rate.
Charges are paid at the beginning of each month.
What
The business retains a part-time in-house lawyer on a flexible basis to either deliver the full legal function of a business or as part of a specific project but without the need to be on the payroll.
In-house lawyers can offer a range of services, with both hard/soft benefits and a list of what comes across an in-house lawyer’s desk is included here.
WHO
Any SME in a range of industries including service providers, manufacturers, tech and software companies who has regular legal needs but not enough to recruit a full-time lawyer or a business that needs legal input for a specific project over a short space of time.
CHARGES
The retainer is based on purchasing a minimum of half a day per month.
Charges are paid at the beginning of each month.
What
We offer a safe-hands service to support the existing legal teams on a short-term basis to help with BAU or any specific projects.
WHO
Businesses that already have a sole legal counsel or a small legal team and need an extra pair of hands on a sporadic basis, for example to cover periods of leave or gaps whilst recruiting.
CHARGES
Charges are based on a daily rate and the number of days needed during a month.
All Services
We will deliver all the services to the following standards:
- Mustafa is a qualified solicitor with an up to date practising certificate and will deliver all services unless told otherwise. he is registered with the professional body as a freelance solicitor
- The services will be limited to general commercial advice and assistance and does not include any services classsed as reserved activities services such as conveyancing, immigration or conducting litigation.
- All services are delivered via a corporate vehicle Musmus Limited t/a as “MM In-House Lawyer” and subject to addtional terms and condition and compliance checks.
- All services will be remote with meetings via Teams and/or Zoom at the first instance.
- Any in-person meetings will be agreed in advance and may be subject to additional charges.
- Emails, telephone and Teams will be the primarily form of communication – post will be the exception.
- Emails and calls will be answered no later than 48 hrs.
- A working day is 9-5, a working week is Mon to Fri except for Bank Holidays.
- For the Sam Retainer, In-House Retainer and Safe Hands Services, days of availability will be wholly in our discretion and where we do indicate a specified day of the week this will indicative and not exclusive.
- We will not hold any monies on behalf of clients and do not operate a client account.
- Where there is an estimate of fees, then we will agree any change in that estimate supported by reasons in advance of the fees being incurred.
- Where work is being charged on a time basis ie not a day rate or fixed fee, then a record of time will be kept and can be made available. Time will be recorded in units of 15 min.
- We will provide our own laptop and equipment. We will consider use of a client-specific laptop or other equipment only in exceptional circumstances.
- Any contracts that are drafted will be delivered in Word (docx) format based on Microsoft 365.
The above will be kept under review and updated from time to time especially if and when additional services are added.
retainers
- The business is buying time for us to be available during that month.
- The onus is upon the client to ensure that it purchases and uses the time it buys.
- There is no right to any refund or set-off or roll-over of time but we may consider roll-over or set-off. This will be more difficult for some retainers than others.
- We can propose changes in the time purchased if we note that either more time is used or less. We also retain the right to raise additional charges if the time used is greater than commissioned.
